FACULTY HIGHLIGHT: Professor Leopoldo Lopez

Salvador L. Lopez joined the Ave Maria University Department of Business as chair in July 2006.  Prior to joining the school, he was for five years instructor of courses in Finance, Economics and Management.

Mr. López has conducted research and consulting for private firms and international organizations in Nicaragua.  These studies are related with Public Finance and Taxation, Analysis of investments in the Transportation and Water sectors, and Poverty Assessment.

Mr. López has six years of working experience in the public and private sectors.  He   worked for four years with the Nicaraguan Government as financial advisor for high income Taxpayers, as advisor to the Minister of Finance of Nicaragua (1993-1995) and as Viceminister of Finance (1995-1997).  Mr. Lopez also worked in the private sector as Project Engineer for Imperial Chemical Industries in León, Nicaragua (1989-1990) and as Director of Data Transmission for the Telecommunications State Owned Company (TELCOR) (1990-1991)

Mr. Lopez completed his undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering at the University of Engineering in Nicaragua, a one-year postgraduate program in Business Administration at INCAE, Nicaragua; a Master degree Program in Industrial Administration at IQS, Barcelona, Spain; the one year International Tax Program at Harvard Law School and the Master in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
