Introducing our Chief Financial Officer: Mr. Eugene Munin

Mr. Munin has a B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois, a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and an M.P.A. from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. 

Eugene L. Munin is the Chief Financial Officer for Ave Maria University.  Prior to joining Ave Maria in July 2011, Mr. Munin was Budget Director for the City of Chicago from 2009-2011. As Budget Director, Mr. Munin oversaw the preparation and management of the City’s $6.3 billion operating budget. He was also responsible for the preparation of the City’s $8 billion capital budget. In this role Mr. Munin worked extensively with the Mayor, the City Council, department heads and members of the Illinois General Assembly.

FACULTY HIGHLIGHT: Dr. Carlos A. Sevilla

M.A., Stanford University; Ph.D., Stanford University
Dr. Sevilla has a Ph.D., and a M.A., from Stanford University, California; and a B.A. in Economics, from the University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus, Oahu, Hawaii.  In 1966 after he graduated from Instituto Pedagogico de Varones La Salle in Managua, LASPAU awarded him a scholarship to study at the University of Hawaii where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha of Hawaii, in 1970.  Thereafter, Stanford University awarded him a full time fellowship for the Ph.D.

FACULTY HIGHLIGHT: Dr. Gabriel Martinez

B.A.I.S., University of South Carolina; M.A., University of Notre Dame; Ph.D., University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Gabriel Martinez is Associate Professor of Economics and Chairman of the Department. He has been in the Economics Department since its beginning and has taught over fifteen different courses at Ave Maria University, particularly in macroeconomics, international economics, development, Catholic social teaching, economic history, and social philosophy. His two favorite courses to teach are Intermediate Macroeconomics and Markets, State, and Institutions.  In the Spring of 2009 he taught Financial Crises: Past and Present .

FACULTY HIGHLIGHT: Dr. Richard M. Hailer

B.S., Tufts University, Medford, MA, Biology; M.Ed., Boston State College, Boston, MA; Ph.D., Union Institute and University, Cincinnati, OH, Public Policy.

His experience in the field of education is enormous: Assistant Director of Bilingual Special Education Project Bridgewater State College, 1986-1987; Associate Director for ten Massachusetts state college international education programs, 1975; Consultant to Presidents of Southeastern Massachusetts University, Cape Cod Community College and Massasoit Community College to develop community based service projects and a satellite center in Plymouth, MA, 1981-1988; Project Director of an eight college consortium providing courses on Cable TV and PBS.

ORIENTATION WEEK: HURRAY TO OUR ORIENTATION COUNSELORS!

WELCOME OUR NEW BUSINESS OFFICE DIRECTOR!

Our new Business Office Director, Alejandro Solis, graduated from the University of Essex in England with honors, obtaining a Post Graduate degree in Financial Economics and a Masters degree in Business Economics.  He also holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Mobile, LAC where he graduated Cum Laude.  Alejandro’s previous work experience includes being the Chief Financial Officer at Agora Partnerships, Lácteos Centroamericanos (milk processing company), and the Nicaraguan Customs Service.  His main responsibilities included due diligence processes and term sheet structuring, investment and financial analysis, and consulting services to entrepreneurs. Alejandro also has a vast experience in other sectors such as the telecommunications industry, food processing, and the commercial sector. Welcome Mr. Solis!
